What Is Happening

What Is a Super El Niño?

El Niño is a periodic warming of the Pacific Ocean that shifts weather patterns across the globe. A Super El Niño — defined as ocean temperatures more than 2°C above normal — is a rare, high-impact event that has only occurred a handful of times since 1950.

NOAA currently has an active El Niño Watch with an 82% chance El Niño emerges by May–July 2026 and a 96% chance it continues through December 2026–February 2027. Multiple international forecasting centers are tracking the same signal.

For Texas, the impact is clear: significantly above-normal rainfall is expected from fall 2026 through spring 2027. The last comparable event brought over 13 inches of rain to North Texas in a single three-month window.

That's not a storm. That's a season. And when it arrives, it will expose every weakness in your home's exterior drainage before it's over.

Austin's Rainfall Risk Window

When the rain hits — and when to get ready

Now — Sep 2026
Get Ready
El Niño is developing and the clock is running. This is your window to get scheduled before demand builds and availability tightens.
Oct — Nov 2026
Risk Builds
El Niño will be locked in and Austin will be in the path. The storm season will be weeks away — homeowners who wait may not be serviced in time.
⚠ Peak Risk
Dec 2026 — Mar 2027
Peak Season
When El Niño dumps the most rain over Central Texas. Fully packed gutters will be overwhelmed. Damage from years of neglect will reveal itself all at once.
Apr — May 2027
Still Elevated
Above-normal rainfall will continue as the event winds down. Impact on gutters and drainage will persist through late spring.

The Risk

What Happens When Gutters Overflow

It won't be a single storm that causes the damage. It will be years of quiet neglect — revealed all at once when the El Niño rain finally arrives.

01
🏠
Fascia & Soffit Rot
When El Niño rain overloads clogged gutters, water will sheet over the edge and soak the fascia boards and soffit behind them. Wood rot sets in quietly — by the time you see it from the ground, it will already be a repair job, not a cleaning job.
02
🏗️
Foundation Erosion
Sustained overflow during a prolonged rain season will pool water at the base of your home. Over time that will undermine soil stability, cause settlement, and lead to the kind of foundation issues that cost thousands to fix.
03
💧
Interior Water Intrusion
Once gutters are overwhelmed, water will find every gap — window seals, soffits, attic edges. Mold, ceiling stains, and insulation damage will follow. You won't know it's happening until the water is already inside.

What We Do

We Handle The Exterior

Monarch Cleaning Solutions will get your home's exterior ready before the El Niño season arrives — starting with your gutters.

🎯
Gutter Cleaning — The Most Important Step
A full blowout of gutters with debris cleared from walkways and hard surfaces. Downspouts are blown from the top — if they flow freely, they're cleared. Blocked downspouts requiring disassembly are quoted separately. This is the single most impactful thing you can do to prepare.

🛡️
Gutter Guard Installation
One install and you'll be done — permanently. Guards will keep debris out so your gutters stay clear through the entire El Niño season and every season after. Ask us about guard options when we're on site.
Permanent Fix
🌿
Roof & Exterior Wash
Algae, mold, and organic buildup on your roof and siding accelerates damage during sustained rain seasons. A soft wash clears it out and protects your exterior before the El Niño season loads it back up.
